Denver, Colorado - 2009 Sportaccord
In March 2009, Denver served as host city for Sportaccord. The conference brought together representatives from more than 100 International Sports Federations, the International Olympic Committee Executive Board, sponsors, Olympic bidding and host cities, architects, sports lawyers, broadcasters, Games Organizing Committees, rights holders and other specialists to discuss the key issues facing the sports industry.
More than 1,500 participants joined in an exclusive and authoritative networking environment to build relationships, exchange knowledge and develop ideas. This was the first time Sportaccord was held in the United States as well as the Americas. Além was the meeting and logistics team organizing Sportaccord on behalf of the Metro Denver Sports Commission.
Além was responsible for all convention logistics, including accommodations, ground transportation, registration coordination, hospitality, food and beverage, meetings, break out rooms and office space, audiovisual, a 110-booth exhibition, internet lounge, entertainment and security. This included a gala Opening Ceremony at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House, part of the Denver Performing Arts Center. Theming and decor for the entire event was designed to create an atmosphere representative of Denver and Colorado. The event was attended by Foreign Ministers, international and domestic mayors of major cities and other high-level government officials, and royal family members from several countries.
