History

Além has grown from organizing bicycle races in our home state into a broad-based global event, media and marketing company. We've been perfecting our business model and skills for almost 30 years. We literally rode into this business with the Red Zinger Bicycle Classic, a two-day, three-event stage race held in Boulder, Colorado, USA.

Steven McCarthy, Além's founder and CEO, recognized a need for the integration of all the services and functions inherent in a moving event of this type, including safety and security, training, marketing and media relations. Issues such as design, creative development, security, public safety, volunteer development and training, marketing, promotion, and media relations were just some of the pieces of the event puzzle needing centralized management, integration and control.
